What is Psychotherapy?
It is talk-based counselling intended to help people discover, challenge and change unhelpful ways of thinking, feeling and behaving.
What therapies do you use?
I use many interventions, however I approach each person using a family systems and integrative framework to conceptualize. I ground my work in Brief Therapy (Solution-Focused Therapy), Emotion Focused Therapy (Attachment Theory) Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Overall, my approach to counselling is client centered.
What is your expertise/speciality?
I have done most of my work with individuals, couples, families and those with special needs or vulnerable population.
How can counselling really help me?
Counselling can help you to understand the origin of your particular issue(s), and the pattern of behaviour that is perpetuating those issues. Therapy helps us to identify those challenging areas and learn how to address them in new ways.
What happens during my first session?
You will get an overview of the process of therapy which outline your role and the therapist role. You will have a chance to ask any questions or share your concerns and expectations. You will also begin to provide context for why you are seeking therapy at this time.
What are the costs and how does insurance work?
Individual session fee is $140. Couple session fee is $190. Family session fee is $210. All prices are plus HST. Session fees are paid before the session whether in person or on-line. Receipts are provided to submit to the insurance provider for reimbursement.
